Credit underwriting: AI-enhanced models that incorporate alternative data sources — payment behavior, cash flow patterns, network data — can significantly improve approval rates and default prediction accuracy, particularly for thin-file applicants underserved by traditional credit scoring. Fraud detection: real-time transaction scoring at the millisecond level is one of the clearest AI use cases in financial services — the decision is time-sensitive, the data is structured, and the cost of false negatives (missed fraud) and false positives (declined legitimate transactions) is well-understood. Compliance automation: transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, and SAR reporting are high-volume, rule-intensive tasks well-suited to AI — with the governance architecture described above ensuring regulatory defensibility.
